Editorial policy
Western Leisure Review aims to make its coverage of leisure culture clear, careful and independent. We explain what a piece is based on, keep opinion distinct from factual description and correct meaningful errors openly.
Accuracy and context
We check names, dates, descriptions and other factual details against suitable material before publication. We take care with historical claims and the meaning of specialist terms, and avoid stating more than the available basis supports. When a subject varies by place, group or tradition, we say so rather than implying one account fits all.
Independence and corrections
Editorial decisions remain separate from commercial arrangements. A partnership does not buy favourable coverage or control an independent article. If a reader spots a possible error, they can contact us with the article title and the detail in question. We review substantiated concerns and make corrections when warranted, clarifying significant changes in the relevant article.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid, gifted or partner-supported material is identified clearly where it appears, so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial coverage. We do not disguise commercial placements as ordinary articles. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; where that applies, the image is labelled as AI-generated. Illustrations are not presented as documentary evidence.
Free time deserves close attention
Leisure is not merely a pause between obligations. Its pleasures, habits and shared customs tell us something about how we choose to spend our hours.
